Jason Lewis Biography

JASON LEWIS

Date of Birth: June 25, 1971

Jason Lewis is most notable for his role as Jerry "Smith" Jerrod on the HBO show Sex and the City. However, Lewis' career began long before his appearance on the Emmy award-winning show.

Lewis was born in Newport Beach, grew up in Los Alamitos and went to school in San Diego, California. Throughout college, Lewis worked as a waiter and a plumbing contractor to save money to travel to Paris. Once in Europe, he quickly became a favorite in the modeling industry and in 1993 signed his first modeling contract with GUESS? The 22-year-old then signed with Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss and Ray-Ban, hopping from Paris to Milan to New York, walking the runway and shooting fashion editorial and ad campaigns. In 1996, Lewis earned himself a nomination for Male Model of the Year at the VH1 Fashion Music Awards.

Lewis studied with three private acting coaches, which proved successful when he started appearing on television. His first role was as Flynn Norstedt on the short-lived series High Sierra Search and Rescue. After a few guest appearances on Beverly Hills, 90210, Lewis made small appearances in Next Stop Wonderland (1998), Kimberly (1999) and The Elite (2001).

It was Lewis' role as Smith on Sex and the City that really got him noticed. Lewis appeared in the show's final season as an aspiring model and as Samantha's love interest.

In 2005, Lewis appeared as Dex Lawson opposite Alyssa Milano on the supernatural drama Charmed. Alternating between television and film, he also appeared in Mr. Brooks (2007), Havoc (2007) and reprised his role in the movie adaptation Sex and the City (2008) and its sequel, Sex and the City 2 (2010).

Lewis can also be seen in the drama The Pardon, (2008), based on the true story of Toni Jo Henry.
