MAGGIE Q
Date of Birth: May 22, 1979
Born and raised in Hawaii, Maggie Denise Quigley's parents met during the Vietnam War. Her father is Irish American and her mother is Vietnamese. After Maggie graduated from high school, she began modeling and traveled through Asia before winding up in the Hong Kong movie business. Unable to speak Cantonese, she had to learn her lines phonetically. After being cast in a bit role in Rush Hour 2 starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, she began to make a name for herself in Asia, and the media shortened her last name to Q because the Chinese found her full name difficult to pronounce.
Maggie continued to work in the Hong Kong movie industry while slowly adding roles in the American films to her resumé, such as Around the World in 80 Days (2004), Mission: Impossible III (2006) and Priest (2011), starring Paul Bettany.
In 2010 she was cast in the title role in the new TV series Nikita, filmed in Toronto for the CW network. Maggie is also a spokesmodel for Shiseido cosmetics. A vegetarian, she loves animals and once considered becoming a veterinarian.
