Mark Rendall Biography

MARK RENDALL

Date of Birth: October 21, 1988

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Mark Rendall decided he wanted to give acting a try when he was eleven. Soon after, Cameron MacIntosh's touring production of the musical Oliver was holding open auditions and Mark not only won a part as one of Fagin's gang, but was chosen to be Oliver's understudy and ended up performing the lead role.

His career immediately took off, with regular roles in the USA Network TV series The War Next Door (2000); the lead role of Bastian in the Hallmark TV series Tales From the Neverending Story (2001), for which he received a Gemini award nomination; and roles in films including the Canadian small budget movie The Impossible Elephant (2001) and the bigger budget US film Touching Wild Horses (2002), opposite Jane Seymour. For his leading role in the production, Mark received a 2003 Young Artist Award nomination.

Mark played the title character in Court TV's Peabody award-winning true story, The Interrogation of Michael Crowe (2002) and received a 2004 ACTRA Toronto Award nomination for Outstanding Performance - Male. In Don McKellar's feature film comedy Childstar (2005), opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh and Eric Stoltz, Mark played the title role of Taylor Brandon Burns, a spoiled U.S. child star who wreaks havoc when he comes to Canada to star in an action flick. He has also done voice work for several animated productions, including TV series such as Arthur and The Berenstain Bears. He moved into the international spotlight with a role in Silk (2007), starring Keira Knightley, though he continues to work in Canadian productions, including starring roles in the low budget features Victoria Day (2009) and Year of the Carnivore (2010).

In his spare time, Mark enjoys juggling, playing guitar, photography, baseball and spending time with his pet sugar gliders—tiny flying Australian marsupials.
