MARK ROMANEK

Acclaimed music video director Mark Romanek established himself as one of
the most innovative video artists working today. Helming groundbreaking
videos for such artists as Madonna, Nine Inch Nails, Fiona Apple, Beck,
Lenny Kravitz, David Bowie, R.E.M., Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and many
others, Romanek has received many awards for his work - including more than
a dozen MTV awards, two Grammys, and three Billboard Music Awards.
In addition to these honors, two of Romanek's music videos have become part
of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art, and in 1997,
MTV presented him with the prestigious Video Vanguard award honouring his
unprecedented achievement in the art of music videos.
In 1985, Romanek tested the waters of the feature film industry writing and
directing the independent film Static (1985). He also spent some time in the
commercial business directing spots for Calvin Klein, Nike, Philips, and
Cirque Du Soleil.
One Hour Photo (2002) marks his return to the big screen after a 16-year
hiatus from the movie business.
