Marlon Wayans Biography

MARLON WAYANS

Date of Birth: July 23, 1972

As the younger brother of actors/writers/producers Shawn, Damon and Keenen Ivory Wayans and actress Kim Wayans, it was just a question of time before Marlon Wayans would also find his way into the limelight.

He made his film debut at the age of 15 in I'm Gonna Get You Sucka (1988), directed by and starring brother Keenan Ivory Wayans. After graduating from the High School of the Performing Arts, he enrolled at Howard University to study filmmaking. In 1992, he played a role in the feature film Mo' Money (1992), written by and starring his brother Damon. The same year, he became a regular alongside his three brothers on the TV sketch comedy series In Living Color. In 1995, Shawn and Marlon got their own WB sitcom, The Wayans Bros., which ran for four years.

After that, Marlon's career took off. Along with Shawn, he co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996). He then took on the leading role of Kenny Tyler in the comedy The Sixth Man (1997).

The Wayons brothers had a huge success when Shawn and Marlon wrote the screenplay for Scary Movie, a spoof on horror films. Keenan Ivory directed, and all three played roles in the box office hit, which earned over $150 million in the U.S. alone. They followed up with a sequel, Scary Movie 2 (2001). Marlon starred alongside Tom Hanks in crime comedy The Ladykillers (2004), then played roles in the comedies White Chicks (2004), Little Man (2006), Norbit (2007) and Dance Flick (2009). He took on a serious role and stepped out from under his brothers' shadows in the action pic G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009).
