Nancy Meyers Biography

NANCY MEYERS

Date of Birth: December 8, 1949

A native of Philadelphia, Meyers attended Washington D.C.'s American University before moving to L.A. where she found work as a story editor for legendary producer Ray Stark. She found immediate success with her first writer/producer gig when she teamed up with Charles Shyer to bring Goldie Hawn to the screen in Private Benjamin (1980). That movie garnered her a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay and an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.

In 1998, she made her directorial debut with Disney's The Parent Trap (1998), which was a huge box office success. Her next film, What Women Want (2000), starring Mel Gibson was an even bigger success, earning over US $182 million at the domestic box office alone. Her golden streak continued with Something's Gotta Give (2003). Starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves, the film grossed over US $125.5 million at the domestic box office.

Meyers has two daughters, Hallie and Annie, with her ex-husband, writer/director/producer Charles Shyer.
