PETER SEGAL
Date of Birth: 1962
While Segal was in USC School of Cinema-Television, he got to work on several HBO comedy specials
such as Tom Arnold's The Naked Truth I, II and III, which Segal also produced and wrote. For his
efforts he won a cable ACE Award for Best Director in a Comedy Special.
He then started to work on Tom Arnold's own sitcom - The Jackie Thomas Show. Although the
show was scheduled right after Roseanne which, at the time, was the number one show, it failed to
pull up its ratings and was soon canned by producers.
Sticking to the comedy genre, Segal turned to feature films, making his debut with
Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994) followed closely by
Tommy Boy (1995) and
My Fellow Americans (1996). More recently he directed
Adam Sandler and
Jack Nicholson in the hit comedy
Anger Management (2003) and Sandler and
Drew Barrymore in
50 First Dates (2004).
Segal also won the National Association of Broadcasters' Service to Children Award in '90 and '91,
as well as eight local Los Angeles Emmys.
