Despite her famous last name, Portia Doubleday is not related to the Doubledays who started a publishing house more than 100 years ago. She was born and raised in Los Angeles as part of a showbiz family—her parents and older sister are all members of the Screen Actors Guild.
Although she landed a commercial for Goldfish crackers at age eight, followed by a small role in the 1997 horror film Legend of the Mummy, Doubleday's professional acting experience was limited when she landed her second movie role—co-starring opposite Michael Cera in the motion picture Youth in Revolt (2010).
