While studying politics and history at the University of Sydney, Rachael Taylor landed her first break on an Australian television show called Headland. For her role as Sasha Forbes, Taylor earned a nomination for a Logie Award for Most Popular New Female Talent in 2006.
She went on to star in the explosive hit Transformers directed by Michael Bay. The DreamWorks produced film was released by Paramount Pictures and was the second highest grossing film of 2007.
Taylor co-starred opposite Bill Pullman and Alan Rickman in the independent film, Bottle Shock, which was an Official Selection of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. In the film, which takes place in 1970 and is based on the true story of the birth of Napa Valley wine country, Taylor portrayed a university student who interns at the winery. She also starred in the horror film Shutter (2008), playing the wife of Joshua Jackson's character. In The Darkest Hour (2011), she played opposite Emile Hirsch as one of a group of young people stranded in Moscow when aliens attack. For her work in the Australian film Red Dog (2011), she was nominated for Best Actress by the IF Awards (People's choice awards for Australian films), but lost to Emily Watson.
