Sharon Maguire Biography

SHARON MAGUIRE

An English director, Maguire started her career in 1991 with the BBC as producer and director for The Late Show. Two years later she began making documentaries, several of which became acclaimed for their quality. Some of these documentaries include The Godfather, Picasso, The Thatcher Years and the comical Dame Henrietta's Dream: A Year In The Life Of Hampstead Garden Suburb.

For the start of the new millennium, Maguire took on a new challenge, adapting Helen Fielding's popular novel Bridget Jones Diary into a feature length film. For her work, she was nominated for an Empire Award for Best Debut.
