Shelley Duvall Biography

SHELLEY DUVALL

Date of Birth: July 7, 1949

Born in Houston, Texas, Duvall was discovered at a Houston party by director Robert Altman. Though she had no acting experience, Altman immediately cast her in a featured role in the film Brewster McCloud. Now a leading lady of Hollywood, mostly in Altman productions, Duvall is known for her sensitive and versatile performances. She won a Best Actress Award in Cannes for Three Women.

Duvall took a break from acting during the 1980s to concentrate on her production company, Think Entertainment, which produced Faerie Tale Theatre, for which she recieved a CableAce Award.

In the video movie Casper Meets Wendy (1998), Duvall played Hilary Duff's aunt, then she played a supporting role as Mrs. Jackson in Home Fries (1998), starring Drew Barrymore. She also played a supporting role opposite Jennifer Connolly in Touchstone's Dark Water (2005).
