STEPHEN COLLINS
Date of Birth: October 1, 1947
Although born in Des Moines, Iowa, Stephen Collins was raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. After
graduating from Hastings High School, Collins went to Amherst College. He was very fond of music and
while in high school and college, played guitar for a number of bands.
Collins began working on stage in his late 20¹s. He has worked a number of acting companies including,
the BAM Theatre Company, Williamstown Theater Festival, and Broadway. Some of his credits include,
"Beyond Therapy", "Moonchildren", "Love Letters" and "Putting It Together". While on stage, he received
an opportunity to work with many great actors including Julie Andrews, Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Goldblum,
Michelle Pfeiffer, Gregory Hines, Christopher Walken, and Christian Slater. Always fond of the stage,
Collins has returned again and again, in between his projects for film and television.
After working years for the Broadway stage, Collins made his first film bow in a microscopic role in
All the President's Men (1976). He was then seen to better advantage with a whole crop of relative
newcomers in the low-budget Between the Lines (1977). Soon after, he graduated to better roles such
as the role of Decker in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1978).
Television has always been kind to Collins: he received substantial acting assignments in the 1977
anthology Best Sellersas David Spaulding, took the lead role in the 1982 Indiana Jones derivation
Tales of the Gold Monkey, as well as the title role in the 1988 weekly Tattinger's.
In the 90¹s, Collins continued to work in television and film. His television credits include the
1990 middle-age-angst sitcom Working It Out, as well as the popular family drama 7th Heaven (1996).
As for film credits, Stephen has added First Wives Club (1996), and Drive Me Crazy (1999) to his
resume. He has also worked on broadening his horizons by directing a number of 7th Heaven episodes
and writing novels, such as "Double Exposure" and "Eye Contact".
In April of 1985 he married fellow actress Faye Grant.
