Steve Beck Biography

STEVE BECK

This California native had dreams of becoming an illustrator and attended the Arts College of Design in Pasadena.

He started his film career in the early '80s working on commercials for Robert Abel & Associates. He spent five years with the company, earning several Clios along the way. In 1988 he was offered a job as visual effects art director at Industrial Light & Magic. He took it and started work on the hit films, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Abyss (1989) and The Hunt for Red October (1990).

After these three projects, Beck returned to the commercial making business. Throughout his commercial directing career, Beck has earned more than 50 awards.

Beck returned to the feature film industry at the start of the 21st century and made his directing debut on the remake of the 1960's horror film, 13 Ghosts (2001). He quickly followed up the project with his second feature, Chimera (2002).

Beck currently lives in San Francisco.
