TIM DALY
Date of Birth: March 1, 1956
Best known as Joe Hackett on the hit TV series Wings, this
handsome and likeable actor's flair for comedy has translated
well to the big screen. Besides co-starring with Sean Young in the gender-bender farce Dr. Jekyll and Ms.
Hyde (1995) and Whoopi Goldberg in The Associate (1996), he also played a supporting role in The Object Of My Affection (1998).
His stage work has won him equal acclaim, largely in dramatic
roles like his Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway production
of Coastal Disturbances. Recently, Daly and his wife, actress
Amy Van Nostrand, created their own company to develop and produce
film, television and theater projects. Their fledgling effort,
The Colorado Catechism, opened at the Coast Theatre in
Los Angeles to outstanding reviews.
Daly began acting by performing in summer stock while studying
theater and literature at Bennington College. He made his first
film appearance in 1982 in Barry Levinson's Diner, and
continued to build his career with impressive appearances in the
Judith Krantz mini-series I'll Take Manhattan, the American Playhouse
production of The Rise and Fall of Daniel Rocket, and Alex
Haley's Queen.
He also provided the voice of Superman in the 1996 animated series.
In 2000, he was chosen to play Dr. Richard Kimble in the remake of the '60s television show, The Fugitive, but despite being a favorite with viewers, it only lasted one season. Nevertheless, he won a Golden Satellite Award for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series" for his performance in the series. Tim returned to the big screen in 2003 with a role in the film Basic, followed by Against the Ropes (2004) alongside Meg Ryan.
Daly is the son of actor James Daly and the younger brother (by 10 years) of Tyne Daly. He and his wife have two children.
