Wayne Kramer Biography

WAYNE KRAMER

Date of Birth: 1965

Born in South Africa, Wayne Kramer immigrated to the United States in 1986 to pursue a career in film after graduating from the Johannesburg School for Art, Drama and Music.

Kramer wrote and directed the short film Crossing Over (1996), which premiered at the 1996 Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It also screened that year at the Palm Beach International Film Festival and Worldfest Houston, where it earned a Certificate of Merit – Finalist. In 1998, Kramer sold his screenplay, Mind Hunters (2004), to 20th Century Fox. Described as Ten Little Indians set within the FBI Academy, the film was directed by Renny Harlin.

The Cooler (2003) marked Kramer's feature film directorial and screenwriting debut. Starring Alec Baldwin and William H. Macy, it premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. It has since played numerous festivals throughout the U.S. and around the world, earning nominations from the Deauville Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. He went on to direct another of his screenplays, entitled Running Scared (2006), starring Paul Walker.
