While it was likely taken a little more seriously by those of us who are aware of (1) what is now happening to Chandler's wobble (earth's wobble), (2) the most interesting (and somewhat scary) things that are happening to today's sun spots, (3) much scientific talk about the poles shifting, (4) the unusual alignment of planets at that time, (5) biblical statements about end times being extremely terrifying, (6) the Mayan calendar,etc. I still found it a bit amusing. First of all, they threw in a few puns which made it kind of funny in some spots. What do you want!!!!!.....looking for social commentary? Not happening here. Indepth personal relationships? Nope. So just sit back and enjoy one helluva rollercoaster ride based on an apocolyptic legend with a script and cast that moves it along without getting too bogged down in credibility. ....and yes, it was a typical hollywood epic disaster flick but.....nobody does it better. And if you're looking for a Fellini/Bergman resurgeance...move along, please.

Best movie!! Excellent special effect but the acting could have been better!

Great special effects, but the story line sucked!!! It was pretty sappy! The only families I truly respected was the Tibetan, Indian, and the black family!! I hated the music in this movie... it was sooo American and full of patriotism. Like I said early on, the only good thing was the special effects.

Amazing special effects but story line of the family escaping death so many times was totally preposterous. Way too long as well. Makes you think about what the future entails for all of us.

Good special effects, story was average and the movie a bit too long. Good popcorn movie to watch during the holidays.

The worst doomsday movie of all time.. It is a direct insult to our intelligence.. This movie is so bad that it makes our culture look pathetic.. If doomsday was to come, no efforts should be made to preserve the culture that produces these crappy flicks.

WAAAAYYYYY to long and ridiculously unrealistic escape seens. I was getting a sore butt and couldn't wait for it to end!!! JJJ Winnipeg
