I think it was a total disapointment, lack of special effects, and total falsification of historical events.

Alexander was neither a great movie, nor a terrible one, thus it gets a 3. Starting with the positive; some of the scenes excellent, visually there was a lot of eye candy, the score was wonderful, the story itself was inspirational to a degree. On the negative side; the movie did become tedious at times, virtually all the cast except for the marquis players were rehashed from Braveheart, same people playing the same role, only now they are ten years older and not as effective. This was one of the most dissapointing films I have ever seen. Oliver Stone really let me down with this one. The camera work was amature, the acting was fake and unrealistic, the style of story telling was poor and didn`t hold my attention at all and what was with that red filter or cross process during the battle against the Indians? I mean people were laughing in the theatre and this film wasn`t any where near comedic. Just pathetic! I want the three hours back and the $10! Come on Oliver.

ALEXANDER............THE BEST MOVIE OF THIS YEAR! Well, Alexander was a movie that didn`t miss scenes, or make it fake. It had some scenes that were inappropriate for young children. But after all, it is rated 14A. It had some parts that some people would consider gay, but thats just how Greeks were! Besides, what`s wrong with two guys hugging each other? I ahve never walked out of a movie before in my life. This movie was the worst thing i have EVER seen in my life. There was no discernable plot, no conflict, no climax and i dont know why Macedonians would have Scottish and Russian accents..... dont waste your money people... this one is a Stinker!!!!!!

Hard to sit through. Good acting (except for Jolie)... the last 30 minutes of the movie are amazing, and very much follow Oliver Stone`s style. The rest was a huge disappointment.

at first i thought collin farrel will do a really bad job on acting as alexander...but he turned out to b a really good performer in the movie...if u are a homophobic i suggest u should not watch this movie because there are a little bits of gay parts in it...but overall it is one of the best movies i have ever watched...

GOOD Movie, though it`s not based on the true GREEK History of Alexander the Great. Umm, he was never gay. And he had lot`s of women at his bedside.

I read all these comments on the movie Alexander before I saw it and obviously not many people liked it. I still went to see it and read the comments again, after. I think that a lot of people have to understand that, yes, even though there are alot of upset people with the gay marriages, that Alexander was bisexual. The movie was fairly good and shows excellent history in it. It tells the full story really good. I would recommend this to all of the history majors and MATURE parents and teens, that can handle bisexuals (even though i may not agree with gays).

The different accents were there for a reason. You have to understand that in Alexanders time, the Macedonians were a "class above" the rest of the greeks. So Stone used different accents to show the different classes. You`ll notice most of the Macedonian soldiers talk with 1 accent and the Greeks talk with another. GREAT MOVIE!

Possibly one of the worst movies ever made. Save you money!!!!!!!

what an amazing movie! I think many people won`t understand what the movie is trying to show. All the grief and hardships Alexander went through and the loneliness he must have felt were done very well and its historical accuracy was impressive for a hollywood movie. I simply loved the movie.

Alexander The Great was not Gay. The producer & director need there heads examined for changing this amazing historical event. This is NOT based on the TRUE history of ALEXANDER THE GREAT. I hope who ever wrote this garbage, get`s there ass sued.

i would like to say that oliver stone has a lot of apologizing to do and that this movie is an example of an epic gone wrong. it`s sad that not even the actors could save this disastrous script and what was up with the unnecessary scenes. too much history and not enough depth keeps it from being interesting, not even the chemistry between alexander and hephastion was all that focused when all they do for throughout the whole movie is hug and cuddle when it looks like they are about to make-out - - its to bad this movie didnt work for me cuz the last battle was spectacular -- wait until this one comes out on video - sorry mr.stone, nice try

Alexander is a legend and thus difficult to portray. That is precisely why Stone and his multi-million dollar budget did such a bad job. However, what were we really expecting when Farrell plays the lead and Jolie, who by the way is just a year older than him, is his mother. The most depressing part was Farrell`s attempt to be a great man with his lengthy and oh so pathetic speeches. It`s a history movie so beware of those who dislike anything to do with the past. And those of you who feel that the bisexual scenes in this movie were uncalled for, you are what ppl call homophobics so get a grip, your in the 21st century.

Accents were all wrong and distracting, not only from Colin Farrell, but from other cast members as well, including Angelina Jolie. Too much dialogue generally speaking . . . All in all, a rather tedious movie experience.

I read some of the comments about Alexander, and I don`t think I will be taking advice from people that do not even know how to spell properly. Curiously enough, most of the positive comments were well written; only those bashing this epic movie seem like they were written by semi-illiterates.

It`s not the first time that an American director has put his own spin on history!!! What a shame in this case as the story of Alexander as told in most reliable historical resources is far more fascinating than the movie. And what a shame that Oliver Stoen could not find a Persian looking actor to Play Roxane. Rosario Dason is lovely but she does not look Persian at all. I would have been equally disappointed if Julia Roberts or Rene Zellweger had played Roxane. My point is, Persians are not an extint race! all Stone had to do was to take a look at some 70 million Iranians living there or the 3 million who are living in North America!!! as f

AH! 3 freakin hours of my time that i wish i could take back! it was so bad! and what`s with the "male flirting" guh! so many uneccesary scenes, and there was no point.. only good thing is that colin was hot.. other than that, DONT SEE IT

HORRIBLE MOVIE!!! The camera work was choppy and shaky, I felt like I was in the Blair Witch Project. Unless you want to see Jared Leto and Colin Farrell "exchange pleasantries," don`t watch it. You`ve been forewarned!

It was not only a waste of TIME but also MONEY! It was too long and boring. Whosoever commented about it being like a history lesson was 100% correct.(thumbs down)

I was expecting a lot from this cast and Oliver Stone and they delivered nothing. This is one of the most unimaginative period pieces I have ever seen.The battle scenes were the saving grace of this monstrosity but even they could not take the bad taste out of my mouth.I don`t know what was worse: the tired Braveheart-esque "freedom speeches" or the monotonous ramblings of the great Anthony Hopkins. When I watched this movie I didn`t see a spectacle, all I saw was a lot of wasted talent...

Oliver Stone`s should have not directed this movie. It was to long the camera work was horrible. Parts of the move were dragged out when it could he bin edited and “I mean the last hour of the move”. This movie should have no ended up as a 3-hour move. This movie could have done beater with a different director filiming it.

BEAUTIFUL, COMPLEX, INTRICATE AND EPIC AT THE SAME TIME. COLIN FARRELL HAS FINALLY TAKEN THE NEXT STEP AND IS TRULY INSPIRING AS ALEXANDER.

Easily the BEST combat movie of the year, it makes the sad TROY and pittiful KING ARTHUR look like cartoons. This further solidifies Oliver Stone as a master filmmaker, and the casting is excellent. This movie isn`t for everyone, let`s face it, not everyone can sit for 3 hours and not everyone wants to see a movie with strong homosexual references. Then again, anyone with a healthy attention span and an open mind and an eye for a well crafted film WILL enjoy this movie. Oh, and Angelina Jolie rules every scene she`s in.

READ!!!------ok, so many things to say, first off, this movie is amazing! everything was true! alexander was a bisexual! the gay sceans made lots of scense,the narating by anthony hopkins was very well, and they only touched on the gay sceans very little, everyone who thinks this movie is not good, dont belive any of the people who tell u, its only because there not mature enough to handel a little gay scene, thats pathetic! overall, this movie is awsome, awsome acting (who ever said colin ferrel cant act, go back to your stone age) marvalous filming! and great writing and story, and if u cant understand there acsent, somthings wrong with you

WOW! That was the most self endulgent junk I have ever seen! Stone should be ashamed of himself. He gives the audience absolutely ZERO credit and beats us over the head with immagery and symbols. Giving the actors accents to deal with (which by the way were ALL different even though the characters were born and raised in the same place so it would have been just as well to let them speak in their NORMAL accent) was a HUGE mistake. Trying to talk in those ridiculous accents that seemed to vanish without reason while speaking AWFUL dialogue proved impossible for most of the cast and it was a constant reminder that the movie was awful. Sorry this film does not live up to expectations, and yes the Gayness is quite disturbing... Alexander the Great is not to be portraied as alexander the gay... he was a strong selfish warrior, who did not cry through and after his battles.. come on people.. Save your money and dont` go see this!

People who comment here about Alexander have obviously no idea about him. Yes, the movie cannot represent history with great accuracy because, the movie would have to be rather as series, and one more fact, the source available about Alexander are subject to all sort of interpretation. The comment about the homosexual love scenes, well, he was biosexual as far as historians can tell...so for all those that believe the "gay" thing is wrong, well for the most part it was accepted by society to infact have a male lover as long as marriage with a woman happened.

Alexander is a very nice movie. The love story of Colin and Jared, actors performed very well and showed the first gay love story I`ve ever known. They are very sweet and loving. I love it. 5 stars for me!

Alexander was a bisexual so this aspect of the film is true, but you`re going to notice a lot of people who are distracted by that and hate the film only because it may be too much for them. At least it`s trying to accurate. Still, the movie isn`t terribly good. It looks as though Stone had high expectations and couldn`t live up to them. Some people keep saying it`s like a history lesson like it`s a bad thing. That wouldn`t be bad except I didn`t learn anything. the war scenary is great. I agree that colin might not be as charming as Alexander was, but the scenary, the fighting scene, is worth the ticket. I don`t know much about his conquest territory. However, most events in the film are historically correct, such as taming the horse, his boyfriend died of Typiods, and his death. The snake in his mother`s room was a bit of exaggeration. It was a sub-par movie...high expectations were blown to pieces by Colin Farrel`s constant over acting often masked by having "passion"...and i dont know what it is..but colin farrel as a blonde made me increasingly upset...and let`s be honest..a "war" epic with only 2 battle scenes...that just does not cut it these days...personally, ill be looking forword to the "other" Alexander film with DiCaprio and Luhrman. GO AHEAD....GOOGLE IT!!
