I don`t understand the comments about not being able to follow the sub-titles. Are there that many dyslexic people out there? Dubbing it would have been a travesty. It was a great film. I`m not sure why so many people compare it to "Crouching Tiger" when the only real similarity between the two movie is the type of martial art used.

Really good. The costumes and scenery in this movie were amazing, and it was more than just a martial-arts movie. The storyline was good, excellent twists, and it had a moral theme to it. While not as good as the Last Samurai, this comes really close.

This Movie Lacked Everything from style to acting. Worst Movie I have ever seen with Jet Li in it. The Story line was lame and disgraceful. Don`t waste your money by seeing this movie.

excellent movie. probably the best one I have ever seen. if you didn`t like the movie or didn`t understand it it`s becuz you didn`t keep up with the subtitle. in addition, this movie is very complix so it`s understandable that simple minded viewers out there don`t know how to appreciate such a masterpiece. I think it would have been better if they tried dubbing the movie to make it a easier to follow with the storyline.

Such a GREAT trailer, but such a not-so-great movie. The first half of the movie was just plain weak in story line with very uninteresting action to make up for it. It takes a lot more then colour coordinated fight scenes to keep me interested. Not horrible ... but far from good.

I preferred Crouching Tiger... Hero was ok.. it is a pretty movie.. worth seeing on the big screen... I wasn`t wowed by it.. I found it tough to keep up with the sub titles at times however a nice escape on a rainy afternoon if you feel like something a little different...

The movie was nothing short of amazing. It was way better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.Its story line, was very well thought out and the artistry involved was spectacular. The movie does have great action scenes, but if you`re the type of person who only enjoys action and gore, and doesn`t really care for the plot, perhaps this isn`t the type of movie for you.

first of all this movie was ported from china here.It was release 2 years ago in china and is the highest grossing chinese movie ever plus it was nominated for an oscar for best foreign film in 2002.Yes the movies is in chinese but it is definitely worth seeing.It has been rated very highly by popular critics such as ebert and reoper,the new york times and so on.It has a beautiful masterpiece and is in my opinion better then hidden tiger crouching dragon which was a great movie too.

This movie was horrible. An extremely poor movie which tries to explain chinese ideal. I`ll give it a two for using nice colours in certain scenes.

Let me give it to those who thought it was horrible in a blunt tone. This movie is a complicated story and is considered an "artsie" film. If you don`t like the art type, then you don`t like this film. Many of you though, did not like it because you did not understand it. You don`t like the style. Story and acting were good.

"HERO" is atypical of the Hollywood`s productions. It is about...the good of ONE who sacrifices worthy for the good of ALL, and that his vengence can be forgotten, the Emperor`s past can be forgiven, and yet be able to share a common vision towards a common goal, and, that is, having the PEACE & HARMONY for all to enjoy in their kingdom. Those who DON`T appreciate this movie, you are watching the WRONG one!

Not a typical Jet Li or Jacky Chan kung fu movie. The whole movie is in chinese with english subtitles. It`s more of a piece of art than a commercial movie. The use of color and scene are absolutly fabulous.

Not everybody will love this movie. Those who are expecting blood-sheds and heavy fighting please go to blockbuster and rent "Kill Bill Vol.1". The use of color in different scene is a very unique idea I must say and the story line is simply splendid. This movie is for those who enjoys "Kill Bill vol.2" because of its story line not coz of its acting.

During the first quarter of the movie, I was considering leaving, but then the twists started. It was kind of cool the way they were able to switch it up so many times. However, I still did not like the movie very much. The acting was sub-par, and while some of the fight scenes were cool, all of them were too short. They also didn`t keep some of the subtitles up as long as they should have. Anyways, final verdict, the critics will love it, the general public hate it.

The true story was twisted, His heroic was not about what happen between him and the King, but to die for promise he has made. The Hero has been a famous Chinese legend about the Honor. About the man who was willing to return the favor even with his live. The story present in this HERO Movie has given the audiences the felling "It is OK to have a dictator to run a country for the shake of peace". It has also given the audiences the felling ”it is OK for dictator run communist countries to exist for the shake of peace”. For the message embedded in the movie, I vote 1. This movie is NOT just about Martial Arts (aka Kung Fu/ Wu Shu). It is about love, devotion, sense of duty & responsibility, friendship, honour, and sacrifice !! Two different men (the King & Nameless) have a common goal to bring peace to their land, unify the country, create a great nation with its beautiful people & landscapes. This is history brought alive that Chinese people should be proud of their heritage !! This is a movie NOT much different from epics, such as, TROY, KING ARTHUR, and ALEXANDER, etc. The west has NOT seen what China was like some 2230 years ago. Appreciate the movie as it was made; Don`t cut it up...please !! W

great movie in a sense that it ties in a bit of chinese history into the story line. and the use of color by zhang yimou was brilliant. more like a work of art than a movie.

for those who did not like the movie, it`s because u did not understand the movie. you would have to be old skool on kung fu movies to enjoy this. at the end i loved it. it had a good story, a story that people of china charish and love. it is THERE history. it was nicely done, two thumbs up ;)

Hero is something to be enjoyed along with other great Chinese films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I love that they both have Zhang Ziyi, whom I think is absolutely stunning in everyway. A good movie to see as a world citizen as well because China is on the rise and I thank them for making this great movie and sharing it with North America. I great cultural view and experience.

This movie was AWESOME! Saw it about a year and a half ago. For all of you who thought it was a piece of garbage, you all have a closed, North American mind. Please go, travel the world and gain some culture. Then, come back, watch the movie, and appreciate a work of art. This movie was more than your straight, linear, North American movie plot. IF you had more depth to your life, you would understand the intricacies of a very well made movie that is based on history, as well as action and art.

For those of you who thought the film was quote "fantastic, spectacular, one of the best movies ever made," please try not to be ignorant and try to watch the movie objectively. Yes there was some extremely well choreographed fight scenes and fantastic special effects, but this movie is in no way a good film, and definetly not, as some have commented "a great film." The storyline had many wholes and many times the characters just seemed to know what the other person was saying by just looking at him/her. The wire fighting seemed to last five minutes at a time. The acting was lacking, as you can tell with Jet Li as the star character. PLEASE

I have some good news....I thought this movie was going to be good...boy was I wrong. The best parts are already in the preview. If you are movie critic you might like this. I thought crouching tiger was alright but this is worse than that. So if your an average person who just likes going to see the movie because of the story and action or horror or whatever genre, I dont recommend this movie at all. The good news is I switched a bunch of movie by switching to geico.

Great Film. Complex but Great story. For those thinking it`s gonna be a murder fest like Kill Bill...Don`t! This film has the action, but it is meant to be more of an Art Film! Remember, this a Chinese film, made in Asia. This kind of movie is not like your typical North American made movie. So go in with open mind and enjoy!!
