Does Basterds surpass other Tarantino classics? Maybe yes, maybe no. But by itself, this movie was pure entertainment end-to-end. Some of the (surviving) developed characters were well performed. The dialogue was quite good, but it cannot be compared against other QT works. Basterds is a movie on its own. "Ze Behren Yuden"...laugh riot!

I enjoyed this movie thoroughly. It is the way I wish WW2 would of ended. Of course this movie is not historically correct. Tarantino movies are in a class of their own.

If you go to see this movie with high expectations, you'll be disappointed. If you go just to enjoy a movie, then it's an excellent movie. Witty dialogue, some gratuituous violence, historically inaccurate (but it's a movie so..) and fast moving subtitles so be prepared.

This is not for the squeemish. I loved the writing in great Tarantino fashion. You start to wonder where he is going with his writing, but it always leads to something really good. The characters were great and well developed. I'd but this movie when it comes out too. Could have had a little more action though.

The quintessential Quentin. If you liked 'Kill Bill' you'll love this. NOT for the squeamish or faint of heart. Simply brilliant. 5 Stars R.A.N.

This was a great movie with a fictional twist in a hostorical event. The puns and other jokes made for a very amusing and funny movie. I agree wiht the comments that this movie should perhaps be rated R.

Well done movie, although slow at times. For those of you who need historical accuracy (like some of the reviews on this site indicate) than maybe try a different source of entertainment than the movies and stop your whining.

This movie is definitely worth watching. The action is great, but the dialogue and suspense is even better. Not a movie for the narrow minded viewer expecting to see an action flick.

Great movie. Not for the small minded, or squeamish types. Should be rated R. Very witty dialogue and humor. Its the kind of movie you have to see again to pick up all the jokes, but its Quentin, so that's a given. I felt that justice had been attained at the end of the movie, so I didn't mind the History tampering. It was awesome.

i found it slow, its almost 3 hours long and more than half of that is spent just talking. The action scenes where sweet, but there wasnt alot of them. I give it 3 stars.

VERY DISSAPOINTED! I am a HUGE QT fan. But this movie made you think that it was going to be about the exploits of a very violent group of bastards. So far from the truth. It was like an old Dirty Dozen movie. But worse! The reason the croud was cheering a little was because it was so long between GREAT scenes. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Rent it.

A historically inaccurate movie. Unrealistic twists in the movie - killing your own to gain trust, yet right! Fast subtitles that I did not expect. Oh then they decide to speak english...

Mixed reviews and unaccurate. The movie was "good" not a masterpiece and not at all lame or predictable. The plot moves slow at times and dragued out scenes that could of been a few minutes shorter. The acting was mediocre on the basterds part, however the movie was engrossing and captivating, not at all senseless violence. Not Tarantinos best, but not his worst either. That being said its worth seeing 4 stars.

You do realize this entire movie is a farce....right???...go figure!I enjoyed it, along with many other friends of mine...so I guess this means it sure beats out GI Joe! What a surprise! ;) Now...I suppose if you are under the age of 18 or are a little slow (you know who you are), you might have some trouble with this movie. Sorry...i'll speak slower for some of you...S-T-A-Y H-O-M-E! :)

Ok movie. Sometimes entertaining, but I definitely expected more from Tarantino movie. In my opinion, the subject (Holocaust) is way too serious material for Tarantino to play with. Would be better - and funnier- if Brad Pitt with his basterds were simply a group of American commandos running over the occupied France and killing Nazis, "Kill Bill" style. All my stars went to the artist playing SS-officer "Jew Hunter". Without him, the movie would not be worth even mentioning.

an ok movie. but the "basterds" seemed to be a subplot in their own movie, which was more about the movie house than anything else. and goebbels hitler etc didn't die that way; why do movies like this have to develop their own perspective endings? who does tarantino think he is ... oliver stone?

Not A huge Tarantino fan, but this was a really well done movie. The movie gets you hooked from the 1st scene. A great piece of work , and a must see ! 4 stars

Talk about being entertained! Wow! This movie is intended to entertain and it absolutely does. The moral message is up to the viewer if one is searching for it. It was worth a watch, but definitely not Tarantino's best. I enjoyed the movie, but there were some things I felt a bit disappointed with. That is all I really have to say on it, without adding spoilers.

HATED THIS MOVIE - SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO GO TO ONE OF TARANTINO'S MOVIES. VERY CRUEL IN PARTS, HAD A FEW LAUGHS BUT FAR TOO MUCH BLOOD, HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW TARANTINO THINKS. POOR ACTING BY BRAD PITT. MELANIE LAURENT PLAYED HER PART VERY WELL.

Typically brilliant Tarantino to juxtapose tension and humour in many great scenes. Pitt is excellent as usual but Cristoph Waltz steals the show as the evil Nazi SS officer. A wonderful soundtrack brings the strong acting and clever plot together. The climatic scene is a bit over the top but that's standard Q film. Very entertaining!
