one word AMAZING! BEST MOVIE EVER

Troy is inspired by Iliad not based upon. The trojan war is not history, its a myth. Homer was blind and some historians believe that he was deaf too. So how could someone who is deaf and blind and who has obviously never seen any battle write history? its crazy to beilive everything in the Iliad. Having said this, i think its acceptable to change the story. I really liked the film especially the battle scenes wich i gotta say "well done". However Bratt Pitt was awfull, he was wrong for the part and tried his best but failed pathetically. Erica Bana was great and so was Peter O`toole, i saw nothing wrong with Orlando Bloom, he just looked bad

I thought the movie was way too long.. Orlando`s character in the movie was quite dumb. However, I must give credit to his performance. I really don`t understand why "Everyone" is hyping about brad pitt performance?!? It was OKAY... It wasn`t all that.. The best part in the movie was the actual war scenes. Watch the movie, if you love seeing Brad pitt naked.

Troy was in no way like the original story, although the special effects were well done the storyline was complely inaccurate.

Overall, subpar. I couldnt help feeling that Orlando Bloom`s scenes with Helen were straight out of a bad soap opera. I like him in his other movies, but he was pretty bad here. Bana was very good. Pitt was decent, but it`s pretty clear why he has never been able to carry a movie on his own. The script was weak, the dialogue contrived and completely hammy (note: Pitt`s scene with his mother--the whole immortality thing was completely overdone with no grounding in character), and the fight scenes far less inspired than those in Gladiator or Lord of the Rings. For all its faults though, I was thoroughly entertained.

It dragged really badly in some parts, but the duel between Hector and Achilles will go down in hollywood history for sure.

I haven`t seen it yet, but it has an awesome cast. Made up of Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Eric Bana, and Peter O`toole.

I thought this movie was OK, 3/5 stars. In my opinion it just took far too long to develop into anything significant. If you were to take all the scenes that include Brad Pitt`s longing stares into nothingness, and gratuitous shots of his Torso and arms you could practically make another film all on it`s own. As far as the plot, way too long and S...L...O...W.. The fights scenes were exceptional! and Bana gave a stellar performance, certainly more real then any other character, Anyway thats my two cents, see for yourself.

It was okay, merely okay. If you want to see it at all, make sure you do it in the theatre because once you can get it on DVD and watch it on your home TV, it will be less than okay. I can`t decide whether Brad Pitt was just doing a bad job with the part, or if it was a bad part for Brad Pitt. He tried very hard to look serious, and that`s what it looked like - him trying too hard to look serious.

Troy`s crimes against Homer`s Illiad were recognised by even the filmmaker`s themselves when they called it, "Inspired By", not, "Based Upon". There was little chemistry between key characters, and talented actors Peter O`Toole and Brad Pitt had little scriptwise to work with. Eric Bana was a show-stealer in a relatively minor role. That being said, I liked it a lot; taken outside the context of an adaptation of Homer.

OMG!! I think this is one of the best movies ever made!! I think that it was really romantic and all the fight scences were coreographed really well. I give it a million stars!! **Plus there`s a lot of hotties...lol

the people who complain about the MUSIC in this movie make me laugh! is that why yer there to see it? it isn`t exactly a musical so stop complainin about it! i think the movie was great! definately worth seeing...especially jus to see brad pitt! and sure the storyline doesn`t follow the "actual story" of the trojan war as people think it`s supposed to...but its jus a movie meant to entertain so go and see it for youself rather than go by what these comments say!

if you like listening to little girls shout with delight at brad pitt then by all means subject yourself to Troy. a movie of pretty boys trying to act serious but end up making the illiad a pathetic tale of woe.

I thought this was an epic movie that showed the histroy and the romance of a story. I liked how they stuck with the history instead of changing it around. Therefore, all in all it was a good movie that deserves some recognition.

All in all a really good & well thought out movie,great story & some awesome fight scenes,found that alot of the time though during heavy battle scenes the camera goes blurry...Highly recommended to see though,definitely one of the top 5 movies this year!

This was an amazing peice of art. Seriously the movie was great, and comparing it to other similar movies (i.E gladiator) it was the best. a MUST see in the theatres!!!.

I love Brad Pitt! Troy? The movie sucked!! The music sounded like music from a children`s symphony. This movie was more about Brad Pitt than the whole story of the Trojan war itself. It really should have been called "Achilles"... since it`s more of a movie about good looking people than actually being a really good movie. Don`t go see this movie with high expectations, you`ll ruin the film for yourself.

Troy was an abismal waste of time and money. What a sad star vehicle. I don`t understand why the Trojan`s were set up as the protagonists, who wants to see the good guys die? What a stupid perspective to tell the story from. I guess when you are banking on Brad to sell the sexy bad boy image you can sacrafice the story you are telling. 270 million dollars that could have made 10 better films.

I don`t see all the hype over Orlando Bloom - he looks like a little boy. Eric Bana gave an amazing performance and every man should aspire to have forearms like Brad Pitts. Peter O`Toole was excellent. Good movie

I thought Troy was a fantastic movie! The action was superior and the actors did a great job. I think what made it better was people my age liking Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt, and then showing them like butt naked, was great! Brad Pitt did a great job, and the story line was good. I love Orlando Bloom!

I have to say that I really enjoyed this movie. It is the first movie that I have seen in a long time that I would be more than willing to see again while it`s still in theatres. As for the deviations from Homer`s Iliad, I thought that they worked well. We must remember that although there is some truth in the story of Troy, most of everything else is a myth, so I think that taking liberties in changing certain facets of Homer`s original story is more than acceptable The movie is INSPIRED by the Iliad, which basically allows for as much creative freedom as possible.

The movie should have been called Achilles! The most dissapointing aspect of the movie was the inaccuracies toward the Iliad. I was shocked as there was no resolution involving the two ppl who started the war...the fighting was good though

After reading some of the comments, that I have found to be funny, stupid, and excellent...I`ll add my own 2 cents worth... 1)If you are a strict christian, and don`t belive in fighting, why the heck would you go to a movie about war!!!! 2)Ditto`s to the "It`s entertainment" comment. 3)Ditto`s to "Greek Mythology".....think ya hit the nail on the head with that one...it is Myth.....the same thing happened to the movie Titanic....people thought it was supposed to be a history movie about the sinking,.....WRONG.....it was a *Love Story* set on the Titanic. In the end I thought Troy was a fantastic movie and will be seeing it again and again

Rather than an epic story, Troy turned out to be an epic waste of money and time. The music is not inspiring, the characters are hollow and the battles epitomized by the first battle scene... quick and anticlimactic. Don`t go watch this movie cause our resources could be better spent elsewhere.

i don`t think I saw the same movies as everyone else... it was long and acting and script were poor... Bloom should stick to Legolas and the only redeeming quality was Eric Bana. Special effects were weak if you compare it to LOTR. Go watch Gladiator if you want a better movie

It was an amazing movie, although I was expecting more. I think they did a good job telling the story without the use of the powerplays between gods. Some people who don`t know basic greek mythology may miss out on some references.

One movie can`t change history, and filmgoers know that. This is pure entertainment, with lots of beautiful people in love and war. The acting is so-so (except for Peter O`Toole and maybe Eric Bana) and I don`t think the filmmakers were trying to adapt The Iliad with exceptional accuracy at all. If you take it for what it is - an unadulterated drool fest - it is VERY enjoyable.

If you came to see an accurate rendition of the illiad, then you`ll be dissapointed. Character development in great heros like Ajax and Meneleus is non existant in this film. Important events are changed and some are put in for no reason. Needless to say, the action was great. Brad Pitt as Achilles did a great job. Leaving the gods out was a huge mistake. Doing this changed pivitale events and manys themes im the Illiad.

hahah someone said it takes away from thousand years of history.... since when is greek mythology considered true history...its myth...the storys are myth....and this movie did an amazing job creating a great movie based on the story of troy

troy was the best movie I have ever seen. orlando lost some hotness points but eric bana won them for himself. Brad pitt gave a wonderful perfomance i will see it again very soon

wow i mean wow this movie was just amazing!after watching it you can see the dedication of the actors and all the time and effort put into this film its just amazing. Its one of those movies you would like to see over and really cant get tired of. at least for me it is. its a must in any movie lovers collection and i will be very surprized if it does not win a truck load of awards.

It`s a far better movie than the Lord of the Rings. 2 & 1/2 hours just fly like 30 mins. I wish it`s longer so to provide more details of the war.
