Tribute’s Bonnie Laufer-Krebs caught up with Kat Dennings at TIFF ’09 to talk about her role in Peter Stebbings’ film, Defendor.

In Defendor, Dennings plays Kat, a young, drug-addicted prostitute who befriends Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), a regular man with superhero aspirations.  Poppington tries to bring down his arch nemesis, “Captain Industry,” with help from Kat and an arsenal of unconventional weapons, including marbles and lime juice. Though the film was shot in Hamilton, Dennings tells Tribute that she opted to say in Toronto during production. “Toronto is one of my favourite cities,” she says. “I love being alone in the snow.”

In the interview, Dennings also tells Tribute that she enjoyed working with Jeff Daniels in The Answer Man. And who would she most like to work with in the future? “Steve Martin, Meryl Streep and Anjelica Huston,” she says.
