TIFF filmgoers are praising Sarah’s Key and the performance of British actress Kristin Scott Thomas following the film’s gala premiere last night at Roy Thomson Hall.
Fans caught a glimpse of the actress and co-star Aidan Quinn on the red carpet Thursday night at Roy Thomson Hall ahead of the screening, which reportedly received a standing ovation last night.
The French film centres around an American journalist who, while researching an article on the Vel’d’Hiv Roundup in 1942 France, stumbles across the story of Sarah, a ten year old Jewish girl who desperately tried to save her younger brother from the police by locking him in a cupboard.
Sarah’s Key was the first distribution deal announced at TIFF last Friday, with The Weinstein Company picking up the U.S. rights to the film. (See Tribute's TIFF interview with Kristin Scott Thomas here).
Following the premiere, moviegoers on Twitter called the film “brilliant and beautiful”, “quite a tear jerker” and lauded the “stellar performance” of Kristin Scott Thomas.

Comments:
Not play into the jokes made on Extras... but quite seriously, maybe some Oscar attention for Thomas and Quinn?
I havent heard their names among the potential nominees being tossed about so far, but you never know!
