23-year-old French filmmaker Xavier Dolan is always a welcome sight at the Toronto International Film Festival. Last year he brought us the critically acclaimed Laurence Anyways, and now he is wowing TIFF audiences with his follow up, Tom à la ferme (Tom at the Farm). Based on the play by Michel Marc Bouchard, the film stars Dolan as Tom, who goes to his lover’s funeral in the country. Upon arrival, Tom is shocked to find that the man’s mother (Lise Roy) has no idea who he is, and apparently didn't even know her son was gay.
Tribute.ca spoke with Xavier about the film, how he is headed in a new direction with his films and how he rocked an awesome new hairdo for the role.
