Robert Pattinson admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair that he didn't even read the script of David Cronenberg's new film Maps to the Stars before he agreed to play limo driver/aspiring screenwriter Jerome in the film. Having played the lead role in Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, he was thrilled to have the chance to work with the Canadian director again. “I hadn’t even read the script and I was like, ‘Yep,’” he told the magazine. Robert had a similar experience on both movies. He says, “[Jerome] was another character who didn’t have any kind of backstory. I said, ‘What kind of guy do you think he is?’ And [Cronenberg] said, ‘I don’t know, what do you think?’ And we are shooting in two days and I’m like, Great. It’s exactly what happened on Cosmopolis. We don’t talk about it at all and then turn up and every single scene I did was one take. It’s ridiculous.”
Maps To The Stars is a scathing look behind the scenes of Hollywood, but Robert insists it's not any real life stars or situations. “I don’t really think it’s taking the piss out of Hollywood. It’s very specific [to these characters]." Maps To The Stars had its premiere on Tuesday, and Robert was joined by co-stars Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Evan Bird, Olivia Williams and Sarah Gadon on the red carpet.
