The official trailer for Gleason begins with real-life footage of NFL Star Steve Gleason's wedding. His wife tells the camera that when she first knew him, Steve had long hair and was a complete cheese ball. We see a statue of Steve's historic punt block that has gone down as one of the greatest moments in NFL history. Steve Gleason tells the camera that he's been having "some strange medical issues recently." He then adds that he has been diagnosed with ALS.

In the hospital, Steve asks God to save him because he doesn't want his wife to be alone. Michelle is expecting a son, and so Steve begins making video blogs for his future child. As the trailer progress, so does Steve's ALS. By the end of the trailer Steve's speech is noticeably slower and less articulate. The change in speech is accompanied by footage of Steve in a wheelchair. The trailer ends with Steve saying he just wants to pass the best of himself to his son.
