The official trailer for Maudie begins with an argument between two siblings, as Maud Lewis’ brother informs her he has sold their family home. With nowhere to go, Maud overhears fish peddler Everett (Ethan Hawke), who is looking to hire a housekeeper to help around his house. Maude takes him up on the offer, but the two get off to a rough start, and Maud threatens to leave. To cope with their strained relationship, she begins to paint colorful pictures on the walls of his kitchen. Soon, Maud’s paintings begin to catch the attention of townspeople, and she starts to sell her work. As she becomes more popular, she and Everett also become closer.
