The trailer for the documentary Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made starts off as a newscaster looks at the camera and says, "We met a pair of young movie makers who are filming their own version of Raiders of the Lost Ark." With that, the stage is set for a passion project that truly does give rise to the greatest fan film ever made.
In 1982, 11-year-old kids in Mississippi decided to do a shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark. It took them seven summers to complete, and this documentary chronicles their journey. As a woman in the trailer states, the kids, "...used real snakes, did their own stunts and nearly burnt down their mom's house."
The trailer features footage of their remake and glimpses of interviews with director Eli Roth, author Alan Eisenstock, the children (now men) and their mom.
