A bloody, panicked man runs for his life in the premiere trailer for the Canadian thriller River. Dr. John Lake (Rossif Sutherland) is on holiday in a small town in the south of Laos. At a bar, he notices a very drunk woman surrounded by a group of men. Afterwards, he stumbles down a dark road but along the way, sees the same woman lying on the ground and one of the men standing above her. He intervenes, then is wanted by the police for questioning and goes on the run.
