Beauty and the Beast star Dan Stevens admits that not only was he very excited to be cast in the movie, but his wife and kids were equally thrilled that he was chosen to play the prince/Beast. He reveals that the new live action version offers a fresh take on the story as well as new songs. He describes the short montage at the beginning that leads to the prince's downfall, explaining that he and director Bill Condon wanted to show the prince's sense of entitlement and petulance and how what happens to him is not just because he refuses a rose, but because of all of his other faults as well.
Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters March 17, 2017.
