Interview: Colin Farrell and Danis Tanovic (Triage) at TIFF ‘09

Tribute’s Toni Ippolito sat down with Triage stars Colin Farrell and Branko Djuric, along with director Danis Tanovic at TIFF.

Based on the novel by Scott Anderson, Triage explores the harsh reality of war through the eyes of photojournalist Mark Walsh (Farrell). Aside from losing 40 pounds for the role, Farrell admits that the film was also emotionally challenging. “It wasn’t the most optimistic of character journeys,” Farrell tells Tribute. “He was somebody that was incredibly damaged and traumatized… I think like many of the things in life, it had caught up to him to the stage that he didn’t even realize the stuff that he was keeping inside.”

Triage isn’t Farrell’s only film in the festival this year—he can also be seen in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.
