Cool New York art rockers, stellastarr* are back with their second disc Harmonies for the Haunted -- an album that encompasses all of the '80s new wave good stuff, packaged into one modern kick-butt box of intense beats and melodramatic love and loss dramatizations. Prime examples of this are in tracks "Lost in Time," with its Cure-like guitars and "Damn This Foolish Heart" with its sweet melodic sounds and angst-ridden lyrics circa Suede and the Psychedelic Furs. But it's with the track "Sweet Troubled Souls" and its super pulsating beats, that Harmonies for the Haunted really kicks into high gear. Fans who loved the band's self-titled debut will not be disappointed.

Fans who've been waiting since 2002 for Canadian sensation Our Lady Peace's sixth studio album, can ready themselves for the band's latest offering, Healthy in Paranoid Times. The album's first single "Where Are You" features striking guitars, super-cool rhythms and Raine Maida's signature urgent, nasal-sounding vocals. Highlight tracks "Walking In Circles," "Wipe That Smile Off Your Face" and "Angels/Losing/Sleep" round off the album which is full of catchy in-your-face pop rock tunes that stay true to the band's original style. The CD will be released as a Dual Disc set including the full album tracks and "the making of Healthy in Paranoid Times" on the audio side, and interviews with the band and studio footage on the DVD side.

You may know Jared Leto as the blue-eyed heartthrob from the big screen in Alexander or the horror flick Urban Legends. Those "in the know" know Leto in a different light: as a poetic songwriter and the powerful lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars. With their second disc, A Beautiful Lie, the band brings forth sounds full of loud guitars and electronic synthesizers that attempt to send your mind into a space filled with fantasy and escape. The first single "Attack" is driven by Leto's emotional angst while the tracks "End Of Beginning" and "Buddha For Mary" expresses the band's sonic fascination with time and outerspace. Think Tool, The Used or gothic metal at its finest.
