With his sensitive teen drama Un Gioco da Ragazze, director Matteo Rovere undertakes a thoughtful and reflective look at the plight of upper-crust teens in contemporary Italy. Alice (Nadir Caselli), Elena (Chiara Chiti), Michaela (Desiree Noferini) and Livia (Chiara Paoli) are seventeen, filthy rich, beautiful, and spoiled rotten.
Best friends for years, they share the same shallow preoccupations, namely beauty, fashion, shopping excursions, partying, and lurid one-night-stands with various young men. School means little or nothing to these women, until a charismatic new teacher named Mario Landi (Filippo Nigro) waltzes into their lives and begins turning heads.
For a time, he seems poised to serve as either their newest romantic target or the first man to impart some depth to the young women's lives. As the long-time gang-leader of the group, however, Elena insists on deciding what role Mario will fill and what long-term impact he will have.
