Cast: Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara

C (Casey Affleck) and his wife, M (Rooney Mara), are happily married, living an idyllic life, full of love. The only thing they disagree on is their home. She would like to leave the dilapidated country house, while he would rather stay.

When he's killed in a head-on car crash just a few feet from his own driveway, their neighbors bring a pie to his distraught wife, M (Rooney Mara), who devours the entire thing in one sitting. C returns to her side, clad in a white sheet, but he has to watch passively, unable to interact. Eventually, M moves away, but he's bound to the house.

C notices another ghost next door, clad in a flowered sheet. Other tenants move into the house, but they sense C's presence and don't stay long. Time begins to unravel as he slips forward and back through the decades.

  • 1 star "I painfully sat through this movie waiting for something meaningful to happen. It didn't. Although I understood their depiction of grief and the ghost being stuck, it was the worst movie I saw all summer. The only thing that resonated with me was their take on time. Time, as we know it, doesn't exist. Long, flat and dull! Thumbs down!"
  • 1 star "Too few people had seen it with a 4 star rating when I saw it. Good actors also pulled me in. However, it was bizarre and not in a good way. Shots on scenes, where there was no motion or dialogue, were laboriously long. I like artistic movies but the significant message eluded me. Go ahead and see it if you enjoy watching paint dry."
