As peace extends across Europe on V.E. Day on May 8, 1945 to signify the official end of WWII, British princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, aged 19 and 14, slip out of Buckingham Palace to go out and join the rest of London for the massive celebrations.
The night brings excitement, danger and the first flutters of romance for the girls, who pretend for one night that they are commoners, just like everyone they meet.
