Synopsis

This breakthrough TV sitcom, conceived by producer Danny Paran and written by Arab-Israeli scribe Sayed Kashua, is a phenomenal hit in Israel. Kashua is known for his novels (Dancing Arabs) and the satiric columns he writes in Hebrew for Haaretz.

The TV series centres on a young Arab couple, Amjad and Bushra, who live on the outskirts of Jerusalem with their two children. Amjad (much like Kashua) is a journalist who works for a Hebrew newspaper and desperately seeks to assimilate into the prevailing Jewish Israeli culture.

Often compared with "All in the Family," Arab Labor mirrors the racism and ignorance on both sides. It's also very, very funny and not-to-be-missed. (TJFF will screen three episodes)
