Synopsis

A cement truck driver's (Rhys Ifans) long awaited vacation is cancelled thanks to his scheming girlfriend Trudy (Justine Clarke). Danny escapes his grim life in suburban Australia and blasts into the skies in a chair tied with helium balloons. A mighty thunderstorm blows him clean off the map and spits him out far away over the lush green town of Clarence, where he rockets into the world of Glenda (Miranda Otto), the town's only parking cop.

While the media back home run riot with the story of his disappearance, Danny gets to reinvent himself in Clarence and the adventure leads him to discover a true soul mate in Glenda. Fate catches up with him eventually as Danny's true identity is revealed and Trudy, now a tabloid celebrity, comes to Clarence to claim Danny and drag him back to Sydney.

  • 5 stars "Having seen Mr. Ifans in Notting Hill, I was impressed with his acting and the presences he brought to the movie so naturally. He was such a total difference to Hugh Grant and Hugh's cyrcle of family and friends. I was pleased to see the movie "Mr. Deckchair". Mr. Deckchair was totally different, again showing his versatility. Unfortunately, I hadent seen or heard about him until Notting Hill was played recently. This prompted me to look at his Bio. I'm pleased to read about his studies and experience within the arts."
