Behind the absurd hides a genuine reality. We would like to welcome talented Toronto filmmaker, Deirdre Logue, to the Cinematheque for this exclusive screening of her early work, paired with the work of prolific local filmmakers/performers, Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan. Unique in their specific expression, each film in this program takes internal conflict and turns it out, using repetition, humour, or monologue not to resolve, but to give body to subjective discord. Through the physical manifestation of these struggles within can we finally come face-to-face with ourselves. With the 2009 Fringe Festival in full swing, this program of short films sheds the glitz of the mainstream and will capture audiences eagerly seeking and the power of raw performance.
