Synopsis

Nigerian twin sisters from an upper class family live privileged lives. Having completed their education in England, Olanna (Thandie Newton), the sweeter and more beautiful sister, falls in love with the handsome and educated Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), while sharp-tongued Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) enjoys the company of a white British journalist, Richard (Joseph Mawle).

As the lower class tribes grow increasingly angry at the inequality in their country, they start a war with the goal in mind of killing all members of the wealthy Igbo tribe. The girls and their families are forced to flee in an effort to save their lives.
