Philippe, an ex-con in his forties, takes on odd jobs in Paris. One night, alone at a bar, Philippe meets Adval and the two men become friends. Adval is homeless, so Philippe lets him set up camp in a corner of his small studio apartment. All goes well until Adval suddenly and unexpectedly dies. While Phillippe is trying to figure out what to do as far as funeral arrangements, Siba, the fiancée of the deceased, arrives in Paris and learns of Adval's death. Adval's devout Muslim father also arrives in Paris and decides the young woman must return home to Kurdistan to marry his other son. Having tasted freedom, Siba is reluctant to leave and despite himself, Philippe is drawn into the conflict.
