Synopsis

Art, activism, and disability are the starting point for what unfolds as a funny and intimate portrait of five surprising individuals. NFB Director Bonnie Sherr Klein has been pioneer of women's cinema (NOT A LOVE STORY, SPEAKING OUR PEACE), and SHAMELESS marks her return to a career interrupted by a catastrophic stroke in 1987. Packed with raw energy, SHAMELESS is a revelation: Honest, vulnerable, and filled with unexpected beauty, Klein gathers together a group of artists with diverse disabilities as we see the transformative power of art and take a subversive look at Hollywood stereotypes of people with disabilities. As we get to know these remarkable people the everyday complexities and hidden richness of life with disability are exposed.
