Subsonics: Part Two / Episodes 4-6

S+R will be screening the series SUBSONICS at the Winnipeg Film Group's Cinematheque. SUBSONICS is a documentary series about experimental music that was produced in 2004 for Australian broadcast under the editorial eye of Oren Ambarchi. It traces an arc from the classical avant-garde of the '50s through experiments with analogue electronic sounds in the '60s, representatives of New Improvisation to today's laptop generation. Parts 1-3 cover key figures such as Mulatta Records, Sue Harding, Masonna, Sun Ra, Ai Yamamoto, Faust, Voicecrack and Harry Partch. Parts 4-6 of Subsonics features some the following artists: Sachiko M & Toshimaru Nakamura, Keith Rowe, Phill Niblock, Otomo Yoshihide, Leif Elggren, and Francisco Lopez.
