Its compelling story is told by none other than Frederick Douglass who uses the words from his autobiography, "Narrative of a Slave" to relate the redemptive story of his life from his birth as a slave on a Maryland plantation to his exciting escape from the slavery's awful clutches at the ripe old age of 20. Today, the book is considered one of American literature's seminal works.
