I think it would have to be when my grandmother in law started pottery classes. She got to work almost right away making gifts for all the grands and great grands. Cute little tree ornaments with different animalish creatures.. When I got to mine well it was an unusual dish in a bright green paint with three flower stamps, ruff outside. It sounds prettier than it looked. I’ll admit I still liked it and it helped to know it was for “stuff” . Grama was big on things to put her “stuff” in. She never really improved her pottery skills but stayed productive!

As a young child I thought I got the worst gift in the world. We had a class gift exchange where names were drawn. Some girls got Barbie Dolls and jewelry and skipping ropes but I got scorched hair ribbons. I acted happy but inside I felt disappointed. Now as an adult I realize the little girl that gave that gift probably had no money to buy a gift so she took the most valuable thing she owned and washed and ironed them to give away.

This is I’m listing my name anonymous.
