The gambling movie 21 topped the box office for the second weekend in a row, pulling in an additional $15 million (all figures US). The new release, Leatherheads, starring George Clooney and Renée Zellweger, was expected to be the box office champ, but earned a paltry $13.5 million. “I’m disappointed for us; I’m disappointed for George,” said Nikki Rocco of Universal Pictures, which released the film. Another new release, Nim’s Island, starring Jodie Foster, Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler, debuted in third place with $13.3 million. The animated film Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who dropped to fourth, taking in an additional 9.1 million. The horror film The Ruins opened in fifth place, grossing $7.8 million.
