22 Jump Street takes top spot at box office

Bro power dominated at the box office this weekend as the action-packed 22 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum debuted at No. 1 with an estimated $60 million. The animated sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2 opened in second place with $50 million. Both movies were received warmly by Tribute viewers who rated 22 Jump Street at 3.4 stars and How to Train Your Dragon 2 with an impressive 4.4 out of 5 stars. Maleficent dropped a spot to third place with $19 million at the box office for a total domestic gross of $160 million. Tribute viewers gave it 4.2 stars. Also edging down one spot was the Tom Cruise blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow in fourth place, earning $16.2 million and a 4 star Tribute viewer rating. Rounding out the top five was last week’s top movie, The Fault in Our Stars, which earned an additional $15.7 million for a two-week total of $81.7 million. ~Andrea Hodgins
