300 sequel tops weekend box office

The new release 300: Rise of an Empire starring Sullivan Stapelton, Eva Green and Lena Headey took over the number one spot this weekend, earning $45 million and a 4 star Tribute star rating from our readers. Another new movie that opened this weekend was the animated feature Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which took the number two spot, earning $32.5 million and a 3 star rating from Tribute fans. Last week’s number one film Non-Stop fell to third place, earning $15.4 million in its second week. It still enjoys a high rating of 4.3 stars. The LEGO movie continues to add to its total, taking the number four spot with earnings of $11 million and a 4.2 Tribute star rating. This is the film to beat in 2014, having now earned $224 million domestic. Rounding out the top five is Son of God, which earned an additional $10 million for a total of $41 million. It continues to have a high 4 star rating from Tribute.ca fans.
