50 Cent apologizes for offensive autism tweets

Due to his tough persona and hardcore lyrics, most people would find rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s autism tweets offensive and upsetting, but not all that shocking. However, actress and autism activist Holly Robinson Peete wasn’t going to stand for it. Mother to an autistic son herself, she wrote an open letter, including a picture of her son in response to the tweets, saying, “This is my son Rodney Peete. He has autism. So I guess this is what autism looks like? He is in special ed. He loves rap music and is a HUGE fan of yours. He’s a tremendous kid. He has to deal with so much trying to fit in. This isn’t helping.” The offensive tweets were sent after a fan tweeted “Release the album or get shot again” in reference to 50’s latest album 5 (Murder By Numbers). He then responded with “yeah just saw your picture fool you look autistic” and “I don’t want no special ed kids on my time line follow somebody else.” The rapper has since removed the tweets and issued an apology, tweeting, “I realize my autism comments were insensitive, however it was not my intention to offend anyone and for this I apologize.”  ~Morgan Bates

HARSH. He wrote that then apologised??? That was nasty. I hope he creates a child with a disability and see how he reacts when people say nasty things about your own offspring.
