90210 star disses Canada

By Alexandra Heilbron on December 5, 2008 | 46 Comments

Shenae GrimesCanadian actress Shenae Grimes, 19, who’s currently starring on the new drama series 90210, was clearly unhappy to be home during a recent appearance at the Gemini Awards.  According to Ryan Porter at msn.com, she was overheard on the red carpet dissing the media coverage, which included Entertainment Tonight Canada and eTalk: “Who is even here worth talking to anyway?” Miss Grimes, who gained experience played recurring roles on Canadian-made fare such as Naturally, Sadie and Degrassi: The Next Generation, also refused to walk the red carpet with former Beverly Hills 90210 star Jason Priestley and wouldn’t enter the media room, commenting, “I try to f–king avoid all that sh-t.” This, coming from a girl who denied to People magazine awhile ago that she was difficult to work with, or that she parties too much, or that she has an eating disorder. It seems that last bit is correct: “She demanded to know where her dinner was,” a source told Porter. Grimes plays Annie Wilson on 90210, a role she acquired after Hilary Duff turned it down.

Wow….did a rock fall on her head and she woke up thinking she was Meryl Streep or Helen Mirren or Audrey Hepburn….

Careful young lady – dissing a country that watches a great deal of American TV isn’t the brightest thing to do… Ya dork. Talk about an obvious sense of entitlement. Such is the way of her generation.

  3. Jeanne • December 5, 2008 @ 10:25 AM

“Who is even here worth talking to anyway?”
Wow – how arrogant can you get? If you’re going to measure “worth” by the amount of power you have then she’s hardly worth talking to herself. Certainly not worth listening to. So quick to forget where she came from and likewise, I hope the Canadian audience will be quick to disown her.

This girls career is headed towards the porno channel!!!!

  5. frank • December 5, 2008 @ 10:26 AM

Only 19 and at the top of her pile of dung.

  6. Spidey • December 5, 2008 @ 10:43 AM

Another celebrity with a HUGE ego!!! I don’t even understand why entertainment media follows her, I mean she’s not even close to Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. Seriously, who’s Shenae Grimes?

  7. paul • December 5, 2008 @ 10:45 AM

Thats no way to get onto canada’s walk of fame. She doesn’t relize that Canada embraces its American stars. besides I’d never heard of this young lady till now,who is she oh yea shes a nobody. good bye

  8. Bill • December 5, 2008 @ 10:52 AM

OK, so the stick-girl with her head stuck squarely up her own ass is trying to put some distance between her roots and where she imagines she is now. The girl is common trash, and who really cares about her and that awful piece of fluff in which she is performing.

  9. Kimbo • December 5, 2008 @ 11:05 AM

First you see Kristen Stewart all cracked out and now this. Young actresses nowadays…

  10. rhynoceros • December 5, 2008 @ 11:09 AM

Shes not worth listening to anyway… Girl gave Canada a favor

  11. Steph Moreland • December 5, 2008 @ 11:36 AM

Really? We’re going to call this girl a celebrity? Another airhead princess with a huge ego who will return to the nowhere she came from soon enough, unless she clings to every thread like Paris does.

  12. Patricia • December 5, 2008 @ 11:47 AM

This young lady obviously forgets her humble beginnings. Usually the big stars are the ones who have manners, the ones trying to make a name for themselves act like this. I certainly won’t be rushing to watch her in anything. Someone needs to knock her off her pedestal. Many a star have come from Canada.

  13. Anonymous • December 5, 2008 @ 1:27 PM

She’ll probobly end up in rehab like all the other useless celebrity wastes of skin. Its a disgrace to call her Canadian.

  14. Ben • December 5, 2008 @ 1:34 PM

    What a twit.

  15. Anne • December 5, 2008 @ 2:34 PM

  16. Anonymous • December 5, 2008 @ 2:39 PM

never even heard of her before this… but I’ve heard of he now! I guess they are right, any press is good press.

  17. Susan • December 5, 2008 @ 2:42 PM

    who is Shenae Grimes?

my your Canadian family must be proud.

Canada will wave bye bye to you on your way down, oh, right, you aren’t up there yet are you? You only think you are…

And by the way 90210 sux

  18. Ella • December 5, 2008 @ 3:59 PM

    What a douche bag!!!!

  19. Jessica • December 5, 2008 @ 4:45 PM

Okay seriously. She needs to realize that this is where she came from & without Canada behind her she would be nothing. Secondly, she obviously didn’t deserve this role in the first place if she got it only after Hilary Duff turned it down. I can not stand these young actresses anymore. All they do is whine & complain & think that we owe it to them, when really they owe it to us. We are the ones that buy the merch, watch the movies & tv. shows. We give them their publicity & trust me, they need to be careful because we can take it back just as quick as they think they earned it. : )

  20. K • December 5, 2008 @ 4:51 PM

Who is the bitch anyways! Go F yourself sweetheart! Canada is be the best country in the world! Don’t like it, don’t come back!

  21. quinn • December 5, 2008 @ 6:22 PM

The new 90210 isn’t great tv. She will be just another unemployed actor in a few months. And then we will see how truly gifted an actress she is crawling back to us on her hands and knees. NEXT!!!

  22. Dan • December 5, 2008 @ 6:25 PM

Hey Shenae I hear Sean Avery’s free the next 2 weeks. You should call him up, I’m sure you 2 would get along “famously”!

  23. tributegirl • December 5, 2008 @ 6:44 PM

What a b1tch! Well, in my humble opinion, she isn’t worth watching, and I’ll make sure I DON’T!

  24. george p • December 5, 2008 @ 6:47 PM

what a dissapointment this sweetheart is.she is so beautiful but what a mouth.smarten up love or your career is down the loo.

  25. Kevin • December 5, 2008 @ 10:41 PM

Says who? Who wrote this? Were they there?
I see nobody’s name on this article.
Did they record her quote? Do they have to put in EVERY word including the f-ing etc?
Oh it makes for such a good blog, just look at the reaction falling into line.

Note to Shenae: be nice to people on the way “up” cuz ya might have to see these people on your way down!!!

  26. ke • December 6, 2008 @ 1:24 AM

    not worth commenting on…damn.

  27. Elias Kotsiris • December 6, 2008 @ 1:47 AM

Who the F*** is this skank anyway? DISSING CANADA? Where will you career go once 90210 is canceled? The same place as Shannon Dougherty maybe? F****** loser !!! Thinks she’s hot shit cause she’s on US tv now. WOW !!! Move over Julia Roberts…..

  28. Daniel • December 6, 2008 @ 2:38 AM

What the hell!? She is Canadian and she disses us? Shes loosing respect at an accelerating speed!

  29. Minerva • December 6, 2008 @ 3:15 AM

My, my, but we’re so quick to jump to conclusions!! Give it a rest you folks!! The title of this Tribute article is very misleading, and is so designed to get a rise out of everybody, and obviously, it worked. Read on…….here’s a cut ‘n paste…..

“According to Ryan Porter at msn.com, she was overheard on the red carpet dissing the media coverage, which included Entertainment Tonight Canada and eTalk:”.
She wasn’t dissing CANADA….she was not impressed with the MEDIA COVERAGE in Canada. It also failed to mention exactly why she was p’d with the media coverage….maybe a good reason for it. Only half a story here as far as I can see. Get a grip!! At least allow her the benefit of the doubt.

  32. True Canadian • December 6, 2008 @ 9:21 AM

Sorry, but saying \there’s no one worth talking to\ is disrespectful whether she’s talking about media coverage or stars. If the event didn’t draw enough coverage, maybe the stars (or lack of star status) was the problem. Not her fault, admittedly, but if she didn’t think it was a star studded event, what the heck did she show up for then in the first place? If she DID think there were going to be some big names there, then she appeared for vanity’s sake and not for the sake of her supposed craft. Ego’s too big here. No excuses here for this young and ignorant former Canadian (I’m hereby banishing her from our country–she’s not polite enough).

  33. Koedee • December 6, 2008 @ 10:56 AM

Ok first off who the hell is this Shenae Grimes girl? She’s a f**king nobody. Honestly, someone needs to fire her off 90210. And this tv show isn’t even a BIG named show and she’s talking sh*t like she owns the entertainment industry. Honestly, this chick needs to learn that celebrities are nothing without the media or fans. And this hoebag is gonna lose media coverage and fans fast if she doesn’t stop walking around like she owns the joint. Geez, celebrities these days.. Actually i wouldn’t consider this airhead as a celebrity! She’s a f**king nobody! Honestly i haven’t heard of this chick until i read the article. Dissing Canada when your hometown is in Canada?! What a douchebag…

  34. Yawnie • December 6, 2008 @ 1:41 PM

So apparently, one no-talent, stupid self- overrated blonde was replaced with one stupid self-overrated brunette wannabe. From her attitude, I’d guess there to be some French or American heritage it her background. Check for yourself in a couple years Shenae, see where you are then. Probably still third-rate.

  35. Dave • December 6, 2008 @ 2:56 PM

I’m sorry, but how exactly did she slam Canada? Unfortunately for the writer of this article, disrespecting the Canadian media is quite different than disrespecting the state we live in.

    Nice spindoctoring.

  36. Nancy • December 6, 2008 @ 4:10 PM

I don’t think she dissed Canada, it’s the Canadian media and a fellow Canadian actor (who previously starred in the original series of the show she now stars in) that she dissed. Still though, she knows what these ‘red carpet’ events are like…the media greets each one of those walking the red carpet and if she doesn’t like it, then maybe she should not have attended at all. So no, she didn’t put down Canada…she just turned into a real BEYOTCH who thinks she is so much better and above everyone…and THAT gives Canadians a bad rep. So we have every reason to be angry with her…because we Canadians have worked hard to uphold our reputation of being one of the best countries with some of the nicest people you could ever meet!!

  37. b • December 6, 2008 @ 4:15 PM

girls got to come down and realize she’s on one of the lowest watched shows on television. Her acting is mediocre at best and frequently outshone by her costars. Send her back to degrassi.

  38. Lina • December 6, 2008 @ 4:38 PM

Careful, Shenae: you wouldn’t want to alienate the people whose burgers you’ll be flipping when this is over.

  39. Jai • December 6, 2008 @ 5:10 PM

She isn’t even that good of an actor! Get over yourself!

  40. Jay • December 6, 2008 @ 10:00 PM

Just because she’s on 90210 she thinks she’s hot now! GIRL PLEASE! You only got that part because someone else turned it down and she’s not even hot at all. Stop dissing Canada ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE CANADIAN. DUMB ASS BROAD

  41. Davide • December 8, 2008 @ 9:34 AM

Ego? i bet she realizes that her career will go no where after boring 90210. At least, she will get a close look at a hospital because her tiny body will land her in there. Hollywood is starting to put people in their place and she won’t like coming back here when she is kicked out of hollywood

  42. Dee • December 8, 2008 @ 3:56 PM

Oh man, I hate the way she ‘acts’ on 90210. They could have gotten someone much better to play the part! What a spoiled brat!

  43. Idiots... • December 8, 2008 @ 7:00 PM

It’s amazing how many people think they have a right to know what goes on in an actor/actresses personal life. I say good for her! Put the media in its place! She obviously meant she didn’t want to talk to any media. The media is just throwing a tantrum by only giving us the information to draw the conclusions that so many IDIOTS on here so far have! She has standards (despite being on a crappy show), but sometimes a new actor/actress HAS to take advantage of whatever’s offered to them in order to show their stuff.

  44. Nancy • December 8, 2008 @ 10:40 PM

Well, ok then “idiots”…no pun intended! If that’s what you think then you are entitled to think that, but can you explain then why she wouldn’t walk with Jason Priestly???? I mean, he is one of the originals from the series which she stars in…??? I think she’s just a snotty little b!tch!!! And I bet the Canadian media & Jason Priestly would agree!

  45. Idiots... • December 14, 2008 @ 3:25 PM

She refused to walk with J.P. for the same reason she refused to talk to the media: It’s a commercial ploy.

  46. Anonymous • December 14, 2008 @ 6:48 PM

    Real reason: she’s a bitch.
