Robert Redford encouraged by #metoo movement

While giving a speech to kick off his Sundance Film Festival yesterday afternoon, Robert Redford addressed the #metoo movement, in which woman are speaking up about sexual harassment, specifically in Hollywood, that has hindered their careers.
“I’m pretty encouraged right now,” Redford said during the opening press conference. “What it’s doing is bringing forth more opportunities for women and more opportunities for women in film to have their voices heard and do their own projects.”
Redford added that the movement will give women a bigger voice in the male-dominated industry, as well opening up the possibility that they can finally earn equal pay to that of their male colleagues.
He said, “It’s changing the order of things so women have a stronger voice. Now I think it’s more even handed. The role for women is to exercise their voices. The role for men is to listen and let women’s voices be heard and think about it.” ~Alexandra Heilbron

It was great hearing from a truly established Hollywood actor, director and equally well known and heralded as the creator of The Sundance Film Festival which kind of has a wonderful, equalizing Democracy all if it�s own. I had always been impressed with and respectful of Mr. Redford and that is unchanged. Several years ago, in sepia tones Mr. Redford made a movie on location here in the Washington DC area on the woman who aided and abetted John Wilkes Booth and her anti Lincoln Pro-maintaining slavery son or sons on their plantation on what is now Clinton, Maryland off of exit 7/7a Jennifer Grey played the Pro-slavery boarding house Owner and plantation owner wife who was found guilty and eventually hung in helping Aid Abraham Lincoln�s murderer southern Pro slave Southern sympathizer John Wilkes Booth. Her name to be honest escapes me but Robert Redford made a great movie of important pt of our history and the movie didn�t go any where. Redford deserves credit for making thatmovie
