Actors shot dead filming crime movie

Police killed two actors and injured others when a robbery scene was being filmed for a movie in Angola, Africa. Interior Minister Roberto Leal Monteiro described the shooting as an “undue use of firearms,” adding, “We won’t rest until police at all levels realize they are public servants.” In an interview with the BBC’s Portuguese Service, Radical Ribeiro, the director of the film, talked about how shocking it was when police suddenly arrived on scene and without warning, began firing at the actors, who were carrying unloaded guns. He says: “They went on shooting until I shouted out: ‘Please don’t shoot, this is a movie.” He says the officers stopped firing, but raced off without getting help for the wounded. Ribeiro confirms he had permission to film in the area.
